Track and field concludes Adidas Classic Saturday

HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field team competed at the Adidas Classic with the men finishing second to host Nebraska and the women taking third place Saturday in Lincoln, Neb. at the Devaney Center Indoor Track. The Cougars were winners of five individual events and one relay.
Houston not only swept the 60m competition in both the men's and women's events but took home both top-two places in the events. Christie Jones ran 7.47 and Grecia Bolton ran 7.51 for the women.
Errol Nolan and Isaiah Sweeney finished 1-2 in the men's event, and both set personal records. Nolan took first place in 6.72 and Sweeney finished second in 6.8. Also scoring points for the Cougars in the event was Tyron Carrier (4th - 7.00) and Jeffery Thomas (6th - 7.10).
Nolan was a three-time event champion Saturday afternoon, the sophomore sprinter from Rosenberg, Texas also took first in the 200m and the 4x400m relay.
Houston had an outstanding showing in the men's 200m event with the Cougars capturing first through fourth places. After Nolan, Kevin Furlough took second, Isaiah Sweeney finished third and Joseph Irabor took fourth place.
Furlough, Irabor and Nolan teamed up with Doug Kelley to win the men's 4x400m in 3:13.03.
Kelley also added an individual title, winning the 800m in 1:52.42.
The Houston women also had a great showing in the 200m, scoring 18 points. Bolton took second, Jones third, Kalyn Floyd placed fourth and Ngozi Onqumere rounded out the pack in sixth place.
Chris Carter won the triple jump for men, leaping 16.12m/52-10.75. Lamar Delaney and Jonathan Williams finished second and third for an impressive showing in the jumping contest.
