Track and Field Travels to Nebraska for Adidas Classic

HOUSTON - After hosting the Leonard Hilton Invitational last weekend, the Houston track and field team heads north for Saturday's Adidas Classic meet in Lincoln, Neb. at the Devaney Center Indoor Track.

This meet will be scored between competing teams from Houston, Nebraska, Wichita State, Air Force and Alabama (women only). NCAA scoring will be used, giving the top-six finishers the points in the event. First place will earn 10 points and the next five finishers will garner 8-6-4-2-1 points in descending order of finish.

Field events will kickoff the meet with the women's weight throw preceding the men's. The running events begin with the women's 60m hurdles and the men's 60m hurdles following. The meet will feature 11 individual running events, one relay, and six field events for both the men and women's teams.

"We are looking to set a number of NCAA qualifying times with the banked track in Nebraska this weekend," said head coach Leroy Burrell. "We got off to a nice start with the warm-up meet last weekend but this is time when we pick up our intensity and focus on setting those NCAA marks."

PREVIOUS RESULTS
Houston hosted the Leonard Hilton Invitational Friday Jan. 14 and the men's team finished second while the women's team picked up third. Most runners competed in only one event despite the meet being scored. Karley King and Alex Bentley won the women and men's pole vault for the second meet in a row. Lamar Delaney took first in the long jump while Joe Irabor earned first place in the 200m dash.
