HOUSTON - The University of Houston Athletics Department and Cougar Pride have teamed up again for the 2010 Dominique Sachse Gold Classic sponsored by KPRC - Local 2 and Irma's Southwest Grill.
The annual event will be held on Sept. 20 at The Traditions Course at Cypresswood Golf Club.
Registration for the Classic will begin at 11 a.m., with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The entry fee for the event includes range balls, carts, player gift, lunch, dinner, a future round of golf at Cypresswood and a team picture with Sachse.
"People will have a great time, memorable moments a good game of golf and some good eating and camaraderie; not to mention some great photo opportunities," Sachse said. "If you played with us before, we invite you back for what you know will be a good time and, we would love to get some newcomers at the event."
The tournament field is filling up fast, so participants are asked to sign up as soon as possible by contacting the Cougar Pride office at 713-743-GO UH or email Tournament Director John Vandenberg at jvandenberg@consolidated.net. A tournament brochure is also available on the Cougar Pride page at UHCougars.com.
Proceeds from the tournament will go to Cougar Pride to fund scholarships for all University of Houston student-athletes.
"It's important for me to give back to the university that I felt gave so much to me as a student," Sachse said. "Even though I wasn't a student-athlete, I find this to be an incredible program with talented students and coaches worthy of our fundraising effort."
