Errol Nolan and Team USA captured gold in the men's 4x400 relay at the IAFF World Junior Championships Sunday.
The Americans opted for a strong start with Joshua Mance and then Nolan leading off. Mance finished fifth in the 400-meter dash while Nolan earned third in the event on Thursday. Those two sprinters created a large gap for the next two runners, David Verburg and Michael Berry, as they were able to run away with the victory.
With their 3:04.76 finish, the Americans turned in the fastest performance in the year in the event for the junior division and the eighth-fastest in history.
"We did well but we wanted to get the record," said Nolan. "We ran our fast two legs first, and everybody else maintain at the end."
The victory secured Team USA's sweep of the men's and women's 4x100 and 4x400 relays. All four teams also established world leading marks in the event this year.
Nigeria took second in the event in 3:06.36 and Great Britain finished third in 3:06.49.
