Relay Teams Lead Track At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. - The University of Houston track and field team concluded the 116^th running of the Penn Relays with two top-five finishes this weekend.

The women's 4x100m relay team, consisting of Christie Jones, Whitney Harris, Quin'shundolyn McPherson and Grecia Bolton, took gold in the event with a time of 44.29. The squad barely missed the meet record of 44.24, which was set by the University of Texas in 2005.

The men's 4x400m relay team - Errol Nolan, Joseph Irabor, Garrett Hughey and Doug Kelley - finished in fourth, clocking 3:09.94.

Harris and Bolton also competed in the women's 100m dash, finishing in sixth with a time of 11.60 and 18^th with a mark of 12.01 in the preliminaries, respectively.

Alysha Cook clocked 64.20 in the championship event of the women's 400m hurdles. On the men's side, Darryl Cloud finished in 17^th with a time of 53.72.

Kalyn Floyd, Brittany Wallace, Tara Prier and Clarissa Payton made up the women's 4x400m relay team that clocked 3:41.75 in prelims.

The sprint medley team, consisting of Cook, Prier, Ciera Johnson and Payton, competed in the championship section with a time of 4:07.49.

Tai'shea Reese finished 17^th in the college event of the women's long jump, leaping 5.58m (18-03.75).

Cameron LaCour clocked 14.57 in the prelims of the men's 110m hurdles.
