COLUMBUS, Ohio - The University of Houston golf team posted its best team score of the tournament with a 298 Sunday morning but could rise no higher in the final team standings at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate.
With a 54-hole score of 904 on the 7,451-yard, par-71 Scarlet course at The Ohio State University Club, the Cougars finished their final regular-season tournament in 10th place.
Individually, junior Clark Mitzner recorded his second straight 75 to finish at 224 and tied for 33rd place to lead the Cougars. Other Cougars in action were junior Justin Kaplan (226, t-38th), senior Jackie Lindsey (229, t-48th), redshirt freshman Joseph Reynolds (229, t-48th) and junior Matt Eschenburg (236, 62nd).
Eastern Michigan won the team championship with a two-day score of 861, two strokes ahead of Penn State and four strokes better than Northwestern. Oklahoma (877) and Kent State (878) rounded out the top-5 team leaders.
Penn State's Kevin Foley fired a 68 for the second straight day to win medalist honors at 8-under-par 205. Charlotte's Corey Nagy stood second at 209, while Eastern Michigan's Cam Burke placed third at 210.

The Cougars now take two weeks off before returning to action April 25-27 at the Conference USA Championships, hosted by UCF at RedTail Golf Club in Orlando.
