Track Claims Six Event Titles at the TSU Relays

HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field team began its outdoor season with six event titles at the Texas Southern Relays this weekend.
Bryan Brown took gold in pole vault with a height of 4.70m (15-05.00), while Derek Schutz claimed second place, eclipsing the bar at 4.55m (14-11.00). For the women, Karley King also claimed first with a mark of 3.65m (11-11.75).
The men's sprint medley team, consisting of Errol Nolan, Shaquille Tubman, Joseph Irabor and Doug Kelley, finished in first with a time of 3:22.26. The women's squad - Quin'shundolyn McPherson, Tai'shea Reese, Tara Prier and Clarissa Payton - also took gold with a time of 4:02.25.
Jason Perez finished first in the 400m hurdles, clocking 51.89.
In the javelin throw, Brittani Williams notched a first-place finish with a throw of 45.54m (149-05). Megan Frausto followed in fifth place with a mark of 31.85m (104-06). On the men's side, Jonathon Ochoa led the men with a distance of 56.84m (186-06) - good for second place. Wesley Bray followed in fourth place with a mark of 51.67m (169-06).
Matt Dudley notched a second-place finish in the shot up with a length of 15.88m (52-01.25). Teonor Davilmar trailed in fifth place, launching the shot put 15.51m (50-10.75).
Rick Fenton finished fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 49.38m (162-00). Laura Allred also finished in fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.60m (5-03.00).
