Piland Named Honorable Mention Freshman All-American

University of Houston true-freshman quarterback David Piland was named to collegefootballnews.com and Foxsports.com's 2010 Freshman All-America honorable mention team. He is one of nine signal callers honored and one of two from Conference USA.
Piland started eight games for the Cougars in 2010 being called into action vs. Mississippi State in game five. He averaged 330.1 yards passing per game and 333.6 yards of total offense, which both marked the highest average in Conference USA. He passed for 2,641 yards and a passing percentage of 58.3.
He also threw 24 touchdown passes, an average of 3.0 per game, which tied Dominique Davis of East Carolina.
