Post Game Notes vs. UCF
Nov. 5, 2010
1. Junior receiver Patrick Edwards caught a 33-yard, 32-yard and 36-yard touchdown to record his 19th, 20th and 21st career touchdown receptions, passing Donnie Avery for sixth on the career touchdown reception list. This marks the second game this season Edwards has caught three touchdown passes in a game (Rice, 10/16/10), which is a career best. He also has caught a touchdown pass in five consecutive games, marking the first time for a Cougar since Mark Hafner in 2008. Edwards needs one more TD catch to tie Ken Hebert (22, 1965-67) at fifth on the all-time career touchdown reception list.
2. Edwards recorded 162 yards receiving vs. UCF, his eighth 100-yard game of his career and third in 2010. He also hauled in a season-best 10 catches.
3. Edwards has posted multi-touchdown games three times this season. He also has 11 touchdown catches this season, which ties for sixth on the Houston single-season list.
4. UH is just the second team to bypass the 30-point mark against UCF's defense this season. Only East Carolina has scored more against the Knights in the 49-35 UCF victory (10/30/10).
5. The Houston offense posted 198 yards rushing, 334 yards passing and 532 yards of total offense, all of which were them most given up by the 15th-ranked UCF defense this season.
6. Michael Hayes rushed for 110 yards, after posting 123 a week ago at Memphis. The back-to-back 100-yard rushing performances marks the first time a Cougar running back has achieved the feat since the 2008 season when Bryce Beall racked up 107 yards against UAB (Oct. 9) and 105 yards at SMU (Oct. 18).
7. Matt Nicholson forced his league-leading fourth fumble of the season in the first quarter stopping a driving UCF, and Marcus McGraw recovered the fumble, his third of the year.
8. Tyron Carrier caught three passes vs. UCF and has now caught a pass in all 36 games of his career.
9. Wesley Scourten blocked his fourth kick of the season with his PAT block in the second quarter. He has now blocked seven in his career (5 field goals, 1 PAT and 1 punt).
10. Kierrie Johnson caught his fourth touchdown of the season and his 10th career TD reception.
11. With four touchdown passes, true freshman quarterback David Piland recorded his fourth multi-touchdown game through the first five games of his collegiate career. Piland also set a career-high with 334 passing yards on 27 completions, surpassing his previous high of 301 yards in his debut against Mississippi State on Oct. 9.
12. The Cougar defense tallied the most tackles for loss this season, recording 11 for a loss of 24 yards.
13. Sophomore placekicker Matt Hogan converted his eighth and ninth field goals of the season with a 30 and 34-yarders. He is now 9-of-12 in 2010 and 21-of-24 in his two-year career.
14. This was the second time this season that the Cougars played on Friday with a 54-24 win against UTEP on Sept. 10 at Robertson Stadium. Houston is 22-11 (.667) all-time when competing on Fridays. Houston is 37-29-1 (.561) all-time when competing in non-Saturday games.
15. UH recorded its fifth straight sell out at Robertson Stadium with an attendance of 32,008.
