TEAM NOTES
* With Saturday's win, the Cougars remained in a tie with SMU atop the Conference USA West Division with a 4-1 league mark... The Cougars defeated SMU 45-20 in Dallas on Oct. 23.
* With 651 total yards (403 pass, 248 rush), the Cougars posted their second-highest output in 2010...Saturday's total trailed only the 656 yards of offense against Conference USA-rival UTEP on Sept. 10.
* That was the sixth time in eight games that the Cougars scored on their opening possession... Houston did not score on opening drives at UCLA and at Rice... In all six games, the Cougars scored a touchdown on their opening drives.
* Houston improved to 126-124-6 (.543) all-time during the month of October.

* The Cougars play host to league-rival UCF at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5 on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium... That game will feature the current leaders of the Conference USA West and East Divisions... UCF (6-2, 4-0 C-USA) was a 49-35 winner against East Carolina on Saturday.

* The Cougars' 56 points was the most in the all-time series against Memphis... It topped the previous high set in a 55-14 win against the Tigers on Nov. 21, 2009, at Robertson Stadium in Houston.
* Saturday's win was the second biggest for Houston in the all-time series against Memphis... It trailed only the 55-14 win by the Cougars in Houston on Nov. 21, 2009.
* Houston has outscored Memphis 111-31 in the last two games.
* Houston improved to 11-9 (.550) all-time against Memphis.
* With Saturday's win, Houston has won the last three meetings against Memphis... The Cougars have not lost to the Tigers since a 35-20 win at Robertson Stadium on Oct. 15, 2005.

* With two touchdowns (1 rush, 1 receive), junior running back Michael Hayes recorded his eighth rushing touchdown and his 10th overall touchdown in 2010.
* Junior running back Michael Hayes recorded rushing and receiving touchdowns in the same game for the second time this season... Hayes previously accomplished that feat vs. Texas State (Sept. 4).
* With 95 yards on 18 carries, sophomore running back Chris Wilson set career highs in both categories... His totals topped his previous highs of 35 yards off eight carries against Northwestern State on Sept. 5, 2009.
* With his 4-yard touchdown reception at the 11:25 mark of the third quarter, junior running back Justin Johnson recorded the first receiving touchdown of his career... It was the third touchdown overall (two rushing) of his career.

* Freshman defensive back Kent Brooks recorded the first interception of his career late around the 4:05 mark of the fourth quarter.
