Track & Field Completes Day 2 of Texas Relays Thursday

AUSTIN - Freshman D'Korian Ford secured a spot in the 400-meter hurdle finals to lead the University of Houston track and field team through the second day of the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin on Thursday.
Ford led a trio of Cougars competing in the 400m hurdles, crossing the finish line with a time of 52:52 to qualify for Saturday's finals after placing ninth. Also running were junior Jason Perez, who finished 12th with mark of 52:84, and junior Darryl Cloud, who set a season best time with a 53.71 finish.
Senior Morgan Floyd finished 10th in the decathlon, racking up 7,007 total points. Floyd finished in a tie for second in the pole vault with a season-best clearance of 4.65m (15-03.00).
In the 4X800-meter relay, freshmen Stephanie Aldea and Ciera Johnson teamed with junior Erica Hannemann and senior Crysta Swayzer to post a fifth place finish, recording a clocking of 9:16.75.
Junior Brandon Hubbard set a season-best in the hammer throw with a toss of 51.88m (170-02) to finish 16th.
Competition at the Texas Relays continues at 9:30 a.m., Friday, with the women's 4X100-meter relay prelims, while field events get under way at 10 a.m. with the women's javelin and men's long jump "B" sections.
