Adigun PRs to Lead Track & Field at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. - Senior Seun Adigun notched the second-fastest time in program history in the 100-meter hurdles to lead the University of Houston track and field team through the second day of competition at the 2009 Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Penn.
Adigun turned in the fastest mark in the prelims with a clocking of 13.19 to set a new personal best and improve upon her NCAA regional qualifying mark in the event.
The Chicago, Ill., native topped her previous Conference USA-leading best by .2 of a second. She will be the top seed in the 100-meter hurdles championship, which is scheduled to be held at 1:55 p.m. (CDT), Saturday.
In the women's 4X200-meter relay, sophomores Christie Jones and Kalyn Floyd teamed with freshman Grecia Bolton and junior Quin'shundolyn McPherson to turn in the fifth fastest time in the prelims.
The foursome finished with a time of 1:34.98 to qualify for Saturday's 4X200m relay championship.
The women's 4X400-meter relay team also qualified for the finals, finishing in eighth place with a time of 3:43.71.
Freshman Isaiah Sweeney set a season best in the 100m, crossing the finish line with a 10.68 finish to place 11th. Sweeney currently stands second in the conference standings.
Competition at the Penn Relays will come to a close on Saturday. The action gets under way at 7 a.m. (CDT).
