HOUSTON - The University of Houston swimming and diving team is receiving votes in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America poll that was released on Tuesday.
The Cougars had 11 points earned their first spot in the poll in school history.
Also ranked in the polls are five Houston opponents this season. Texas (fourth), Texas A&M (sixth), SMU (19th) and LSU (21st) all find themselves ranked among the Top 25. UNLV is also receiving votes.
During the fall season, UH defeated both Rice and Florida International during the opening weekend at the Phill Hansel Duals. They would fall to Duke, Georgia Tech, Emory and UNC-Wilmington to close out the month of October but strong individual performances highlighted the weekend. The Cougars then capped the fall with the Cougar Classic, finishing fourth.
The team will return to action on Jan. 22 when they travel to Denton, Texas for a dual against North Texas.
