Awards Pile up for Houston

Twelve Houston Cougars have been awarded All-Conference USA honors, as announced Thursday by Phil Steele Publications.
Six first-team selections were announced with four on offense and two on defense. Junior quarterback Case Keenum, wide receiver James Cleveland, sophomore offensive guard Chris Thompson and sophomore kick returner Tyron Carrier headlined the conference and nation's top offensive unit.
Sophomore linebacker Marcus McGraw and senior cornerback Brandon Brinkley were the first-team defensive selections.
In addition to being a first-team honoree as a kick returner, Carrier was also a second-team selection at wide receiver. Senior linebacker C.J. Cavness paired with Carrier to be the other pick with the second-team unit.
Sophomore receiver Patrick Edwards, senior center Carl Barnett, sophomore defensive tackle David Hunter and junior Jamal Robinson represent Houston as part of the third-team selections.

Freshman running back Charles Sims was the lone Houston representative on CollegeFootballNews.com All-Freshman team as he was a third-team selection.
Sims led all running backs in total receiving yards and was third among backs in receptions per game. The freshman sensation used his versatile skill set to garner C-USA Freshman of the Year.
