Cross Country Will Play Host To Johnny Morriss Invitational

HOUSTON--The University of Houston cross country team will play host to the Johnny Morriss Cross Country Invitational Friday at the UH Intramural Fields.
The women will begin a 3,200-meter race at 6:45 p.m., and the men will begin the 4,800-meter race at 7:15 p.m.
The UH Intramural Fields are located off 1-45, on the northeast corner of Cullen Blvd. and Elgin St.
Returning this season for the men's team are juniors Ahmed Harb, Antony Keller and Mauricio Morales. Eight freshmen make up the remainder of the team.
For the women's team, juniors Erica Hannemann, Kelcee Keenan, sophomores Lindsey Marshall and Jasmine Trier are returning this season. Seven freshmen were added to the roster this season, including transfer, Crysta Swayzer from Notre Dame.
Friday's meet will include teams from Houston Baptist, Rice and Sam Houston State.
While the cross-country team is excited to get the season started, the meet will be used to prepare the newcomers for the rest of the season.
The top 10 finishers in each race will receive T-shirts.
Next Up
Following the meet, the Cougars will travel across town to compete against Conference USA rival Rice on Sept. 20 in the Rice Invitational.
