Track and Field to Host Houston Invitational

HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field team returns to action this weekend as the Cougars host the Houston Invitational on May 2-3 at the Carl Lewis International Track and Field Complex.
The two-day meet will begin on Friday with a trio of field events scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. The men's and women's sections of the javelin, pole vault and shot put will all be held on the first day of the meet.
Competition will resume at 9 a.m. Saturday with the women's weight throw. Running events are slated to begin at 11 a.m. with the men's and women's 5,000-meter runs.
Saturday will also be Senior Day for the UH track and field team. The University will honor its departing seniors with a special ceremony that will begin at 12:30 p.m.
Admission to the meet is $5 for spectators.

Following the meet, the Cougars will begin preparation for the 2008 Conference USA Outdoor Championships in El Paso. The three-day meet will be held May 15-17.
