Senior Jordan Irwin (Calgary, Alberta/The Masters Academy) carded an one-over-par 145, pacing Houston golf, Sunday afternoon (Apr. 6), in the second and final round of the 30th annual Administaff Augusta State Invitational played at the par-72, 7,403 yard Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans, Ga.
Due to inclement weather, Saturday's second-round play was suspended for the day and was resumed this morning. Consequently, officials changed the originally-scheduled 54-hole tournament to a 36-hole event, ruling competition as final at the conclusion of the second round.
Finishing tied for 27th place, Irwin hit one-over 73 on the day to end the weekend at one-over-par. Irwin's one-over-par 73 was the team's lowest round on the day. His two-day score was the best overall score for the Courgars as the team concluded the tournament shooting a 22-over 598, finishing in 18th place. Junior Brady Shivers (Seminole, Tx/Midland College.) finished the tournament at 5-over 149, tying for 60th place. Following tied for 69th place was junior Ben Moser (Waterloo, Ontario/Kent State) and junior Steven Frazier (Housotn, Tx./St. Thomas HS) at 9-over 153. Junior Jackie Lindsey (Houston, Tx./Jersey Village HS) finished with a 16-over-par 160 good enough for 89th place.
Golfweek's No. 5 ranked UCLA ran away with the title, shooting 24-under 552, 16 strokes better than No. 2 Georgia. The Bruins' Lucas Lee took home the individual medal at 10-under 134, a pair of strokes better than runner-up Gareth Shaw of East Tennessee State.
