Track and Field Concludes Competition at Texas Relays

HOUSTON -- Sophomore Jason Perez set a regional qualifying mark in the men's 400-meter hurdles to lead the University of Houston track and field team through the final day of competition at the 81st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at the Mike A. Myers Soccer and Track Stadium in Austin on Saturday.
Perez finished with a time of 51.62 in the finals to place seventh. The mark is currently the fastest posted in Conference USA this season.
The men's 4X400-meter relay team of freshman Lazarus Crumedy, Perez, senior Dominic Milton and sophomore Justin Davis also finished in seventh place in the finals. Their time of 3:10.85 is currently tops in C-USA this year.
Both the men's and women's 4X200-meter relay teams took fourth place. Freshman Ed Turner, Davis, Crumedy and senior Tremaine Smith finished with a time of 1:24.63. For the women, freshman Christi Jones, freshman Kalyn Floyd, junior LaNeeka Allen and sophomore Quin'shundolyn McPherson posted a time of 1:35.77.
In other relay action, the team of seniors Adriane Guinn, Jennifer Anderson, Jennifer Harper and Oumama Hallal finished the women's distance medley with a clocking of 12:00.61.
The Cougars return to action when they travel to El Paso to compete in the UTEP Invitational on April 12.
