Track and Field Pulls Double-Duty this Weekend

HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field team will pull double-duty this weekend, competing at both the J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet at Rice University on Thursday and the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in Berkley, Calif., on April 25-26.
The J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. with the men's and women's hammer throw. Running events are slated to begin at 6 p.m. with the 4X100-meter relays.

The two-day Brutus Hamilton Invitational will begin on Friday with the women's hammer at 10 a.m. and finishes with the men's 5000 meters, scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
On Saturday, the women's 100-meter dash kicks off the day at 10:30 a.m. and the final event of the competition will be the men's 4x400-meter relay, which is slated for a 5 p.m. start.

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Cougars set or bettered nine regional qualifying marks during the Tom Tellez Invitational.
Leading the way was junior hurdler Seun Adigun, who posted a personal-best in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.55. Her mark is tops in Conference USA this season.
Senior Tremaine Smith set a regional mark in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.29. Sophomore Quin'shundolyn McPherson also set a regional mark in the 200m, finishing with a personal record time of 23.70.
Other athletes setting or bettering regional marks were: freshman Kalyn Floyd (400m), senior Caresir Hamilton (triple jump), sophomore Alex Bentley (pole vault), sophomore Ashley Bryant (discus) and sophomore Brittani Williams (javelin).
UP NEXT
The Cougars will return home as they host the Houston Invitational at the Lewis/Tellez Track Complex on May 2-3. The Houston Invitational will be the Cougars' final tune-up before competing at the Conference USA Outdoor Championships, which will be held May 15-17 in El Paso.
