Texarkana, Ark. - With the three golfers resting in the Top-15 and all 22nd or better, the Houston golf team sits alone in second-place after two rounds at the C-USA Championship.
"We have some talented guys here, said head coach Vince Jarrett. The course played tougher today than yesterday but we're excited for tomorrow's round."
The Cougars picked up a stroke on day one leader Memphis and are currently four strokes behind Tigers who are 8-under-par (568) heading into the final round
Junior Brady Shivers, the Cougars top golfer, maintained his Top-five position shooting even-par 72 on the day, good enough for a fourth-place tie.
"Our confidence is definitely up, said Shivers. I think we're all playing great golf right now."
The Cougars lowest round of the day, a 1-under-par 71, was shot by junior Ben Moser.
Moser sunk five birdies on the afternoon with four coming during a scorching nine-hole stretch. He moved up six spots on the leaderboard and is currently tied for 10th overall.
The team's lone senior, Jordan Irwin, is one of five golfers tied for 12th at even-par on the tournament.
Arguably the most impressive round of the day for the UH was carded by junior Steven Frazier. The Houston native improved an amazing 21 positions on the field after carding an even-par 72. He now sits in a tie for 22nd place along with fellow Cougar sophomore Jackie Lindsey. Both Frazier and Lindsey finished the day 4-over-par (148).
UAB's Zach Sucher fired a second round 6-under-par 66 and is 10-under-par for the tournament, which leads all golfers.
The Cougars are set to tee off on the par 72 6,935-yard course tomorrow at 8:30 am (CST). The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday. Live scoring and tee times can be found by clicking HERE.
