Swimming and Diving Preps for Weekend Meets

HOUSTON - The University of Houston swimming and diving team will split this weekend for two meets. The swimming team will travel to Atlanta, Ga., for the USA Short Course National Championships on Dec. 4-7, while the diving team will head to Austin for the Texas Invitational on Dec. 4-6.

Houston is back on the road after taking three weeks off following the Phil Hansel Dual Meet Weekend. The Cougars improved to 9-1 in dual meets, defeating all four opponents, Rice, Incarnate Word, Florida International and Vanderbilt at the meet. For her performance, winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter events at the meet, junior Anastasia Pozdniakova was awarded her third consecutive and fourth Conference USA Diver of the Week award this season. She has won the weekly conference award following each competition that she has competed in this season.
At the meet, as a team, the Cougars took home five individual event wins and one relay event win, in addition to Pozdniakova's wins.

Following both meets this weekend, Houston will not return to competition until the Puerto Rico Invitational on Jan. 3 as part of the team's winter training session.
