2008 Houston Cougars Football Postgame Notes
Houston Cougars (7-5, 6-2 C-USA) at Rice Owls (9-3, 7-1 C-USA)

TEAM NOTES
** With 42 points, the Cougars scored in their 105th consecutive game... The Cougars have not been shut out since a 48-0 loss at Texas on Sept. 23, 2000.
** Despite Saturday's setback, the Cougars still lead the all-time series against Rice 25-10... UH had won the last three games against the Owls... The win against UH is the first for the Owls against their cross-town rival since Sept. 5, 2004, when Rice defeated UH, 10-7, at Reliant Stadium... The Cougars are 14-5 all-time against the Owls at Rice Stadium and the win for Rice is their first at home against UH since a 30-27 decision in overtime on Sept. 2, 2000.
** The Cougars are 5-4 (.556) all-time when playing on Nov. 29. In addition, the Cougars are 1-2 when playing Rice on Nov. 29.
** The Cougars are 125-98-4 (.559) all-time when playing in the month of November.
** The Cougars are 46-47 (.495) all-time in C-USA games.
** The Cougars are 16-4 (.800) all-time against the C-USA West Division.
** The Cougars are bowl eligible for the fourth consecutive season and the fifth time in the last six years.
** Rice's opening drive touchdown marked the fourth time this season, UH has allowed their opponents to score on their opening drive. It also marked the seventh time this season UH's opponent has scored first.
** UH's opening drive touchdown gave them their third opening drive touchdown of the season... The Cougars also scored on their first opportunity with the ball against Tulane and Tulsa.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
** With three straight completions to start the game, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum set the NCAA Division I record for consecutive completions... Keenum completed his last 22 passes against UTEP (Nov. 2, 2008), the third-highest single-game total in NCAA Division I history... Tennessee quarterback Tee Martin held the record with 24 straight completions (last attempt against Alabama, 10/24/98; first 23 attempts vs. South Carolina, 10/31/98).
** With five touchdown passes, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum has thrown a touchdown pass in 15 consecutive games.
** With five touchdown passes, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum recorded the 15th multi-touchdown game of his career.
** With 43 touchdown passes on the season, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum became just the third Cougar to throw for 40 or more touchdowns in a season... He joins David Klingler (52 touchdowns in 1990) and Andre Ware (46 touchdowns in 1989).
** With five touchdown passes, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum recorded the eighth game of his career with at least three touchdowns passes... It also was his fourth straight game with at least three touchdown passes.
** With 494 passing yards, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum recorded the fifth 400-yard passing game of his career and the 2008 season... The Cougars are 3-1 (.750) during games in which Keenum throws for 400 yards.
** With 494 passing yards, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum recorded his 13th straight game with at least 300 yards to extend his school record... The Cougars are 7-6 (.538) during games in which Keenum reaches 300 yards.
** With 144 receiving yards, sophomore wide receiver L.J. Castile recorded the first 100-yard receiving game of his career... His previous high was an 83-yard performance against Southern earlier this season.
** With three receiving touchdowns, sophomore wide receiver L.J. Castile notched his second career multi-touchdown game... His previous high was a three touchdown performance against Southern earlier this season.
** With his 34-yard touchdown reception at the 12:09 mark of the fourth quarter, freshman wide receiver Tyron Carrier recorded his third-straight game with at least one receiving touchdown.
** With 101 receiving yards, redshirt freshman wide receiver Tyron Carrier recorded the fifth 100-yard receiving game of his career... The Cougars are 3-2 (.600) during games in which Carrier reaches triple digits.
** With 142 receiving yards, freshman wide receiver Kierrie Johnson notched a career-high in receiving yards as well as his second career 100-yard receiving game.
** With 17 rushing attempts, freshman running back Bryce Beall increased his own school record mark for rush attempts by a freshman to 176.
** With his two-yard touchdown run at the 14:56 mark of the second quarter, freshman running back Bryce Beall recorded his sixth-straight game with at least one rushing touchdown.
