2008 Houston Cougars Football Postgame Notes

TEAM NOTES
** Thursday's win tied as the biggest come-from-behind win in UH history... The Cougars trailed 24-7 with 7:56 remaining in the second quarter against Texas A&M before rallying for a 36-31 win on Oct. 13, 1990.
** After trailing 20-3 at halftime, the Cougar defense limited UAB to only 55 yards on 38 offensive plays during the second half.
** With Thursday's win, the Cougars improved to 2-0 in Conference USA play for the second time in the last three seasons (2006)... It also was only the third time since joining Conference USA that the Cougars started 2-0 in league games (2008, 2006, 1997).
** Thursday's win was only the 14th time in the history of Houston Football that the Cougars opened a conference season 2-0... UH accomplished the feat three times in C-USA (2008, 2006, 1997), six times in the Southwest Conference (1990, 1989, 1984, 1979, 1978, 1976) and four times in the Missouri Valley Conference (1958, 1956, 1955, 1952)
** With 45 points, the Cougars scored in their 99th consecutive game... The Cougars have not been shut out since a 48-0 loss at Texas on Sept. 23, 2000.
** The Cougars improved to 3-4 (.429) all-time against UAB... The Cougars improved to 2-1 (.500) all-time against UAB in Houston.
** The Cougars improved to 119-121-6 (.496) all-time when playing in the month of October.
** Houston improved to 7-2 (.778) all-time when playing on Oct. 9... Thursday's game was the first time that the Cougars have played on Oct. 9 since 1999.
** The Cougars improved to 8-1 (.889) all-time in games televised by CBS College Sports/CSTV and have won their last eight games televised by that network... The Cougars have not lost a game on CBS College Sports/CSTV since a 35-20 setback against C-USA rival Memphis on Oct. 15, 2005.
** The Cougars improved to 42-45 (.483) all-time in C-USA games. ** The Cougars improved to 4-19 (.174) all-time against teams from the state of Alabama.
** The Cougars improved to 29-16-1 (.641) all-time during their conference home openers... The Cougars improved to 8-5 (.615) all-time during their Conference USA home openers.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
** With two touchdown passes, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum has thrown a touchdown pass in nine consecutive games.
** With two touchdown passes, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum recorded the ninth multi-touchdown game of his career.
** With 360 passing yards, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum recorded the seventh 300-yard passing game of his career... The Cougars improved to 3-4 (.429) during games in which Keenum throws for 300 yards.
** With 360 passing yards, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum recorded his seventh consecutive game with at least 300 passing yards... He became the first Cougar quarterback to accomplish that feat since David Klingler from Sept. 8, 1990 to Oct. 27, 1990)... Klingler was the last Cougar quarterback to reach 300 yards in eight consecutive games, accomplishing that feat from Sept. 8 to Nov. 3, 1990).
** Freshman running back Bryce Beall's 70-yard reception from sophomore quarterback Case Keenum was the longest reception of his career... It topped his previous long of 21 yards at East Carolina (Sept. 27, 2008).
** With 107 rushing yards, freshman running back Bryce Beall recorded the second 100-yard rushing game of his career ... The Cougars are 2-0 in games in which Beall reached triple digits.
** Freshman running back Bryce Beall's 70-yard run late in the third quarter was the longest run of his career... It topped his previous long of 29 yards at No. 23 East Carolina on Sept. 27, 2008.
** With 108 receiving yards, redshirt freshman wide receiver Tyron Carrier recorded the first 100-yard game of his career... The Cougars are 1-0 during games in which Carrier reaches triple digits.
** With 108 receiving yards, redshirt freshman wide receiver Tyron Carrier set a personal best in that category... His total topped his previous high of 91 yards at Air Force (Sept. 13, 2008).
** Senior tight end Mark Hafner saw his streak of consecutive games with at least one touchdown reception snapped at five games.
** Junior cornerback Brandon Brinkley's 35-yard interception return for a touchdown at the 1:28 mark of the third quarter was the first touchdown of his career.
** With his 35-yard interception return for a touchdown at the 1:28 mark of the third quarter, junior cornerback Brandon Brinkley recorded his team-leading third interception of 2008 and the sixth pickoff of his career.
** With his interception at the 5:09 mark of the first quarter, junior linebacker Matt Nicholson recorded the first interception of his career.
