Floyd, Diggs, Women's 4x100 Prepare for NCAA Championships

HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field team will send five athletes to the NCAA Track and Field Championships this week at the A.G. Spanos Sports Complex in Sacramento, Calif.
Senior Ebonie Floyd will be making her third appearance at the NCAA Championships competing in the 100 meters, 200 meters and the 4x100 meter relay.
Floyd enters the meet with the fastest collegiate time in the 100 and 200 meters after winning both events at the NCAA Midwest Regional. Her winning time of 22.32 in the 200 meters set a Regional record and is the second fastest time in the world and her 100 meter time of 11.15 is a new season best.
She was named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Central District Female Track Athlete of the Year Monday for her performance this season.
Floyd will run in the first round of the 100 meters at 3 p.m. CST on Wednesday. The semi final round will be at 4:55 p.m. with the finals on Friday at 4:25 p.m. The first round of the 200 meters will be Thursday at 1:50 p.m. with the semi finals at 3:35 p.m. Finals for the 200 meters will be Saturday at 8:58 p.m.
Junior Ivan Diggs will be making his first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships after qualifying in the high jump. Diggs earned All-American status during the indoor season after finishing eighth in the high jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Diggs will compete in the qualifying round of the high jump Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. with the finals on Friday at 1 p.m.
Joining Floyd in the 4x100 meter relay are freshmen Hyleta Young and Quin'shundolyn McPherson and sophomore Seun Adigun. All three are making their first appearance at the championships.
The semi finals of the relay will be at 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday and the final will be run at 2:40 p.m. on Friday.
The championship can be seen live Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on CSTV and Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. on CBS.
