HOUSTON -- The University of Houston track and field team opened competition Friday at the 38th John Jacobs Invitational with the distance carnival.
Freshman Jessica Cook was the top finisher for the Cougars. The Kingwood, Texas native finished 10th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:35.00. On the men's side senior Paul Goodwin finished 12th with a time of 10:07.17.
Junior Oumama Hallal finished 13th in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:48.28. On the men's side junior Michael Malain and freshman Nathan Trimble finished 25th and 30th, respectively. Malain turned in finishing time of 15:33.28 and Trimble finished in 16:22.04.
The 38th John Jacobs Invitational resumes Saturday at 11 a.m. with the field events and the running events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. A complete wrap-up of the meet will be made available at www.uhcougars.com following the meet.
