HOUSTON - The University of Houston football team had their final practice of the week today, outside on the UH practice field in full pads.
"Practice went very well today," head coach Chris Thurmond said. "We finished up with an overtime period at the end. It was a good tempo, good energy, we all had a great time so it was a good practice."
High energy is an important part of the workout schedule for Thurmond and it's rubbing off on the team. Thurmond expects the players to continue to hold that energy as they move back to working on the basics and improving the team.
The team worked for close to 90 minutes this evening before calling it quits and heading in to the locker room. All the coaches came off the field very enthusiastic and Thurmond was extremely happy with the way things went at practice today.
"We're just working on the fundamentals and trying to get better," Thurmond said. "It was just a really good practice today."
The Cougars meet TCU at 7 p.m., Dec. 28 during the 2007 Texas Bowl at Reliant Stadium. Fans can hear that game live on 790 AM The Sports Animal with Tom Franklin calling the play-by-play action, David Klingler or Ted Pardee providing color analysis and Chuck Brown reporting from the sideline.
