The loss snapped Rice's seven game Conference USA winning streak. The streak was the seventh longest in league history. The 48 points were a Bayou Bucket pass for Rice and a season-high.

His three touchdown passes allowed Clement to move within three touchdown strikes of matching Tommy Kramer's (1973-76) 37 touchdown passes for the No. 2 spot.
Clement is now responsible for 41 touchdowns allowing him to pass Trevor Cobb for the No. 3 spot in program history.
