TEAM NOTES
** Saturday's attendance of 36,107 was a 2006 season high for the Cougars... It also was the Cougars' biggest attendance since 40,957 watched UH take a 28-16 win at Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss., on Oct. 22, 2005.
** With Saturday's loss, the Cougars saw their four-game winning streak come to an end... It was UH's longest winning streak since the Cougars reeled off four consecutive wins from Sept. 13-Oct. 17, 2003... The Cougars' 4-0 start... marked the first time since 1990 that the Cougars won their first four games of a season... That 1990 UH squad opened the year 8-0.
** Miami (Fla.) improved 11-7 (.611) in the all-time series and collected their seventh straight victory against the Cougars... Houston's last win over Miami (Fla.) was a 21-16 win on Dec. 4, 1976, at the Houston Astrodome... The Cougars' last win over the Hurricanes in Miami , Fla., was a 30-7 decision on Oct. 14, 1973.
** Houston fell to 76-85-4 (.473) in the month of September.
** Houston fell to 21-19-2 (.524) all-time against teams from the state of Florida.
** Houston fell to 28-16-4 (.517) all-time against the existing teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
** Houston fell to 4-3 (.571) all-time when playing on Sept. 30.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
** Senior quarterback Kevin Kolb made the 41st consecutive start of his career... With that total, he tied former signal-caller Jason McKinley (1997-00) for the most consecutive starts by a quarterback in UH history.
** Senior quarterback Kevin Kolb's 4-yard rushing touchdown at the 14:39 mark of the second quarter was the 18th rushing touchdown of his career... He already ranked as the UH career leader in rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.... It also was the 85th career touchdown (67 passes, 18 rushing) for which he was responsible, second most in UH career history.
** With 209 yards of total offense (196 passing, 13 rushing), senior quarterback Kevin Kolb moved past 11,000 yards of career offense during his career... He already ranks as the UH career leader in that category... Kolb finished the night with 11,196 yards of total offense during his career... Kolb also moved into 18th place in NCAA career history with that total... Up next in the NCAA records book is Georgia quarterback David Greene who racked up 11,270 yards of total offense (11,628 passing, -258 rushing) in his career from 2001 to 2004.
** With 196 passing yards, senior quarterback Kevin Kolb moved into 30th place in NCAA career history with 10,544 career passing yards... Up next in the NCAA records book is former Boston College quarterback Doug Flutie, who threw for 10,579 yards from 1981 to 1984.
** With his reception on the Cougars' opening drive around the 9:50 mark of the first quarter, senior wide receiver Vincent Marshall recorded a reception in his 41st consecutive game... Marshall is now only two games away from tying the school career record, held by wide receiver Orlando Iglesias (1997-01)
** With two field goals, sophomore kicker Ben Bell recorded his second straight game and the fifth game of his collegiate career with at least two field goals.
** Junior free safety Will Gulley's interception at the 4:48 mark of the first quarter was the ninth pickoff his career.
** Senior outside linebacker's Wade Koehl's interception around the 13:10 mark of the second quarter was his first interception in 2006 and the third of his career.
