Lawrence, Kan. - The University of Houston men's golf team travels to Lawrence, Kan., where they will play in the Kansas Invitational on Sept. 18-19 at the Alvamar Golf Club.
The Cougars will be competing against 14 teams on the 6,950-yard, par-72 course at the 54-hole tournament. The teams are scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
Houston enters the tournament after opening its 2006 fall schedule with a second-place finish at the Cobb/Ferrell Mean Green Classic in Denton with a three-under par on September 11-12. Jordan Irwin was the individual medallist at the Cobb/Ferrell Mean Green Classic with an eight-under par score of 208, while teammate Pablo Acuna tied for second place one shot back at 209. Ricky Romano tied for 16th place for the Cougars.
Last year, Acuna was the individual runner-up at the Kansas Invitational to lead Houston to a fourth-place finish as a team.
