Irwin Named Conference USA Golfer of the Week

Houston - The University of Houston's Jordan Irwin was named the Conference USA Men's Golfer of the Week for the week ending September 12 after he won the Cobb/Ferrell Mean Green Classic with a three-round total of 208, eight strokes under par.
Irwin opened the tournament with a four-under 68 in the first round for the low round of the tournament. He then carded rounds of 71 and 69 to earn his third career medalist honor. The Cougars placed second in the 14-team field.
This marks the third time in his career that Irwin has won a tournament. His first two victories came at the 2005 and 2006 Palmetto Intercollegiate Tournaments.
It is the second time in his career that he has been named a C-USA Golfer of the Week. The first time was on March 15, 2006 after he won the 2006 Palmetto title and helped Houston win its fourth straight tournament of the spring.
