Question - Now that it appears our program is on track, what about a preseason
tournament in Toyota Center and build on it each year?
Answer - A preseason tournament is always a possibility, however, we still have
need for success on a consistent basis---more than one year before we
seriously consider a preseason tournament. A postseason tournament (NCAA) is
upper most on our agenda at present.
From Derek Dickson, Houston
Question - Is there any chance that the bayou bucket will return to our HOME turf
at Robertson Stadium? Playing at Reliant wasn't quiet the experience the
student body desires. We like staying on campus and giving our team the home
field advantage.
Answer - Playing at Reliant is dependent upon a number of factors---one of which
is financial. We will only play the game at Reliant if it is in the best
interest of our football program.
Brandon Kocian, Houston
Question - I am a student at the University of Houston. A student with great cougar
pride. I have heard rumors that the school logo is going to be changed, from
the UH to the new cougar head. Are any of these rumors true? If so why
would anyone want to change the logo away from the UH?
Thank you for your time.
Answer - The logo has not changed. The UH is still our logo---the Cougar head is
simply complimentary to the UH.
From Ricky Coleman, Houston
Question - How can the crowd noise on football games be improved? Our broadcast
sounds as if no one is at the game but the announcers.
Answer - Crowd noise is generally a reflection of attendance and enthusiasm---as
the team has greater success the atmosphere will improve - greater
attendance and more enthusiasm.
From Mark Harris, Houston
Question - Why isn't the football schedule announced sooner? My wife graduated from
a very large university in the midwest and their entire schedule is
announced 3 years in advance. Frankly, as soon as one season ends I am
looking forward to the next. It would also give us more time to prepare to
attend. You are doing a magnificent job as AD and we are blessed to have you
at UH. Go Coogs!
Answer - While we would very much like to have our schedule at an early date, the
delay is out of our hands in that the conference football schedule is
arranged by ESPN.
