Dec. 22-23, 2005
Yesterday I woke with a full day of activities to do. Ryan Gilbert, Coach Briles, and I had to go to a press conference in the morning when all of the other players got to sleep in.
After the press conference, we walked over to the Kickoff Luncheon in the Fort Worth Convention Center. It was a very nice gathering that included both teams, a lot of fans, and Barry Switzer, who was the guest speaker for the event.
Then, we went to Amon G. Carter Stadium for our walk-through where we go over all of our calls. Everyone was working together, and there were no mental errors. I can definitely tell you that our defense is focused for this game.
After we got back to the hotel, we had a little time off before we had to go to the Sundance Square for the pep rally. I called my mom to check up on my family and my dog. She said everyone was doing great. They were pumped up for the game, and my mom told me that they would see me on game day.
We then headed down to the pep rally. The crowd was split between red and blue, Cougars and Jayhawks. Both of our bands were there, but I'll have to say our band was more entertaining. Anthony Alridge even did his best to climb the band director's ladder and conduct the Spirit of Houston through a song or two.
After KU's Coach Mangino slowly crept off of the stage after guaranteeing a Kansas victory, Coach Briles and the seniors took the stage to let the crowd really know what was going to happen. We were not intimidated for one second at that pep rally and if anything, Coach Mangino's speech fired us up even more. After that, we had dinner, meetings, and headed to bed.
This morning, I went to breakfast, and then came to do my final installment of my Fort Worth diary. The rest of the day I have meetings, a walk through, and a little business to take care of tonight at 7pm at Amon G. Carter Stadium. Go Coogs!
