HOUSTON - For the second time in as many weeks, University of Houston freshman Tania Cagnotto was honored Tuesday as the Conference USA Diver of the Week.
The Bolzano, Italy, native swept both diving events for the second straight meet to help lead the Cougars to a convincing 126-104 win over North Texas last weekend in Houston at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center Natatorium.
Cagnotto set new CRWC Natatorium records in both events, earning 319.85 points to take top honors on the 1-meter board. She capped the meet by scoring 372.65 points to shatter the previous record by more than 50 points in the 3-meter event.
Her 3-meter total was the eighth-highest total in UH dual-meet history. SMU's Candace Blackman was named the C-USA Swimmer of the Week.
Cagnotto and her Cougar teammates return to action when they play host to Arkansas at 4 p.m., Nov. 3 at the CRWC Natatorium. That meet is free and open to the public, which is invited to attend.
That will be the start of a busy weekend for the Cougars who will face Texas A&M at 6 p.m., Nov. 4, in College Station, Texas.
