Heads into the fall as one of the Cougars' starting wide receivers... Is one of the most dangerous receivers in Conference USA... Runs 40-meters in 4.38 seconds... Does exceptional things after the catch... Is extremely deadly as quick strike receiver and can break down defenses with his speed... Can also return kicks and punts when needed... Has at least one catch in 24 consecutive games dating back to his first game in 2003... Enters the 2005 campaign ranked number seven all-time in receiving yards with 1,852... Looking to become only the sixth receiver in UH history to record at least 2,000 yards receiving in a career... Is 16 catches away from cracking the Top 10 in career receptions... Just two touchdown receptions from breaking into the Top 10 in that category.
2004: Started 10 of 11 games last season... A Second-Team, All-Conference USA selection... Became just the eighth receiver in UH history to record 1,000 yards receiving in one season... Finished the year with 1,040 yards receiving on 61 catches... Also had five touchdowns receiving and averaged 94.5 receiving yards per game... Also rushed eight times for eight yards... Had at least one catch in every game... Finished second in Conference USA in receiving yards per game and third in receptions per game (5.55)... Also was ninth in C-USA in all-purpose yards with 95.3 yards per game... Recorded a game-high five receptions for 54 yards against Rice during the season opener... 2003: Led all Cougar wideouts with 60 receptions and was second on the team with 812 receiving yards and seven touchdowns... Ranked fifth on team with 147 rushing yards on only 14 carries and led all players with a 10.5 average per rush... Made his Cougar debut a memorable one... Hauled in eight receptions for 95 yards against Rice in the Cougars' season-opening win and accomplished all of that in the first half... Led team with four receptions and added a team-best 36-yard rush at No. 5 Michigan... Led the Cougars with eight receptions for 79 yards and hauled in touchdown catches of 13 and 23 yards in the Cougars' win against Mississippi State... Made three catches for 22 yards at East Carolina in front of a nationally-televised audience on ESPN2... Hauled in three catches for 43 yards and scored on a 14-yard touchdown pass at Tulane... Hauled in a 12-yard touchdown late in the game and finished with game highs of six catches for 81 yards against Memphis... Recorded five receptions for 106 yards and added an eight-yard touchdown catch against 15th-ranked TCU... Scored the Cougars' last points of the game on a 36-yard touchdown run into the end zone... Led Cougars with four catches for 70 yards against Southern Miss in UH's Homecoming game... Tied for game-high honors with six receptions totaling 44 yards at Army... High School: Was a two-sport star at Ennis High School just south of Dallas...Was named First-Team, All-State as a kickoff returner... Picked up Second-Team, All-State accolades as a wide receiver and punt returner... Helped Ennis win two state 4A championships... Competed in both the long and triple jump... Once held the state record in the triple jump at 51'2"... Was sixth in state as a senior in the 400m(48.2). Personal: Born November 12, 1983, in Ennis, Texas... son of Verlen Marshall of Ennis... Originally arrived at Houston on a track scholarship... Chose UH over Miami (Fla.), LSU, Arkansas and Wisconsin... Enjoys reading in his spare time... Majoring in sociology.
