Question- Are there any plans to televise the 2005 football away games?
Answer- "It is still too early to know the television schedule for next fall. That will not be known until sometime in February when the conference schedule comes out."
From Kenneth H. Barrett, Houston, Texas
Question- While the football and basketball team seems to be on the way
back, our food services are not. Can't you do something about these people.
They provide such bad service that I am afraid they will eventually have a
detrimental effect on our attempt to increase our attendance. That said,
your coaching hires have been great and I think you are doing a terrific
job?
Answer- "We recognize the deficiency in the food service and have placed significant pressure on the concessionaire to improve. The concessionaire is chosen by the University and not the athletic department. We have however, informed the University of our displeasure with the current concessionaire and they are working with us to bring about better service."
From Don Stowers, Houston, Texas
Question- Who can we get to replace Nebraska on the 2005 football schedule? Any chance at all of getting a big name school like, say, Notre Dame?
Answer- There is no chance of Notre Dame. Nebraska has placed us in a very difficult situation in not following through with their verbal commitment both to me and to ESPN. Most of the scheduling for next year has been completed. We have opportunities to go on the road; however, we desire a home game and are working with ESPN to find a game with fan appeal to replace Nebraska.
From Dr. Ben Youssef, Houston, Texas
Question- Given how diverse the student population on our campus and the general population in Houston, don't you think that it's time we start broadcasting our football and basketball games in Spanish as well?
Answer- This is a very good idea and we have been looking into this possibility for the past two years. We will continue to explore this possibility for the future.
From Ricky D. Coleman, Houston, Texas
Question- Can the marketing department work some kind of a deal with 790AM similar to the one that UT has with 610AM? They advertise UT athletics 24 hours a day, and use the UT fight song in most of the commercials. This would create great interest in the community and help with recruiting athletes and fans.
Answer- ISP owns our radio rights. They have done a very good job of expanding our coverage over the past couple of years. Our opportunities for greater exposure will be enhanced as our football and basketball programs improve.
From Daryl Deloney, Houston, Texas
Question- Just a quick comment on the concessions at Hofheinz. I want to commend you and your staff on the response to the concessions problems which occurred during the LSU game. The concessions for the Louisville game were first class. Keep up the great work.
Answer- Appreciate your comments and continued support. We will continue to work to make the fans experience at Hofheinz enjoyable and to make it the place to be.
