Houston, Texas- - The University of Houston football team returned to the outdoors for its final preparations before traveling to Birmingham, Ala., for a Conference USA game against UAB on Saturday, November 13.
The Cougars were forced to practice the last two days inside the Bill Yeoman Field House because of previous rain in the Houston area.
"It's been a good week of practice," Houston head coach Art Briles said. "Our last two-to-three weeks of practice have been the best we have had all year. That is the thing I am most impressed with our team. We have guys who are a lot better now than they were in August. That is what you aim for a coach and a player. Do you stay the same or do you continually improve? They continually get better and that speaks volumes for their attitude and effort."
Houston will play its final road game of the season after winning their last two home games against Tulane and East Carolina. The win over East Carolina marked the first time the Cougars have won a homecoming game since 1999.
"We actually have some momentum and confidence which is huge in anything you do," Briles added. "If you believe and expect good things to happen, they are more likely to happen.
"We have a different mindset than we had earlier in the year. We are hungry just like UAB is. They are fighting to become bowl eligible and we are fighting for respect and recognition. It's a great match-up and a great opportunity for both teams."
