Littlepage Wins Steeplechase at Texas Invitational

Austin, Texas- - Sophomore Terie Littlepage recorded the only win for the University of Houston men's and women's track and field teams at the Texas Invitational as she won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Littlepage finished the race in 11:20.61 to finish ahead of Texas A&M's Sarah Steadman, who ended the race with a time of 11:22.70, and Joy Burson of Southwest Texas State, who finished in third place with a time of 11:29.93. Houston's Jessica Oakes finished in fourth place with a time of 11:30.88.
Stanford Routt just missed winning the men's 200-meter dash by six-hundredths of a second as he finished in second place with a season-best time of 20.76 seconds. Brendon Christian of Texas won the race with a time of 20.70.
Robert Foster also had a second-place finish among collegiate sprinters in the 100-meter dash with a wind-aided time of 10.32 seconds. In a separate heat, Kyle Farmer of Florida posted the fastest collegiate time with 10.29 seconds, while Desmond Bynum, who was competing unattached, had the fastest time with a wind-aided 10.23 seconds.
Routt and Foster also joined Fred Day and Brandon Womack on Houston's 4x100-meter relay team. The Cougars finished third in the race with a time of 39.89 seconds, while Texas held off Florida by 12 hundredths of a second to win the race. The Longhorns had a time of 39.68 seconds, while Florida finished the race in 39.68 seconds.
Houston will compete in the Texas A&M All-Comers Meet on May 8 before traveling to the Conference USA Championships May 15-17 in Charlotte, N.C.
