HOUSTON, Texas - With a light workout in cooling December temperatures, the University of Houston wrapped up its first week of bowl preparations with exactly two weeks remaining before the Cougars face Hawai'i in the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl on Christmas Day.
UH head coach Art Briles cut back practice a few minutes this afternoon, but he still was pleased with the way his team has focused its attention on the all-important bowl clash.
"Football in December is not a bad deal," said Briles. "We like that there is a little chill in the air. The thing I like is that we're just getting better. We're better right now than we were two weeks ago when we played UAB (a 56-28 UH win.)
"That is what really inspires us as a staff and a team." Briles went on to say that the Cougars haven't had to change or alter much in their preparation for Hawai'i.
"We'll basically stay the same," added Briles. "We pulled off from practice a bit because we've doing this gig since August 5. If we don't know it by now, we're not a very good team."
Houston returns to the practice field on Sunday, and then the Cougars will have three more days of practice before departing for Honolulu on Friday, December 19.
