The University of Houston men?s basketball team will be among the first college sports teams in the nation to provide their fans with the opportunity to witness sporting events first-hand, live on the Internet.
Thanks to MaxVU Sports Broadcasting Network, Inc. (MSBN), a Woodlands based company, and their webcasts, not a single Cougar fan has to miss out on the excitement of the 2002-2003 Cougar basketball season.
Through www.maxvusports.tv, U of H students, faculty, alumni, family members and all other Cougar fans can now catch all the basketball action they desire, right from the comfort of their own homes or offices. These events will be available to anyone with Internet access, regardless of their physical locations or Internet connection speeds.
?We are entering into a partnership with MSBN," said Dr. Stacy Hall, General Manager of Houston ISP Sports Network. "This is a great and wonderful thing for Houston Cougar fans."
Beginning with the battle between the Cougar men and Louisiana-Lafayette on Jan. 4, fans can simply log onto the Internet for non-stop college basketball fun.
The MSBN streaming webcasts will be free to Cougar fans throughout the month of January. Future events will be available through MSBN?s subscription service.
In addition to Internet accessibility, MSBN also has the ability to send the streaming webcasts out to sports venues.
"Simultaneously broadcasting live events over the Internet to households, businesses and sports venues is truly groundbreaking," said Gregory Demetriades, CEO of MSBN. "Although streaming has been around for years, never before has there been a combination of technologies and acceptance of technologies, which allow streaming to become one of the next significant broadcast mediums. We want to thank all of our sports network affiliates, such as The University of Houston for seeing the possibilities." 7:30 pm
