HOUSTON (AP)- Barrick Nealy threw two touchdown passes and ran for another, and Joffrey Reynolds rushed for 114 yards as Houston broke a nine-game home losing streak with a 36-17 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday night.
Nealy was 11-of-24 for 182 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Middleton in the third quarter, before leaving with an injured left knee.
Houston (2-1), which was winless last season, hadn't won at home since beating SMU 17-15 on Sept. 30, 2000.
Louisiana-Lafayette (0-3) lost its sixth in row.
Reynolds carried 17 times and scored a touchdown in his third 100-yard game this season.
Houston scored on its first possession, a 44-yard field goal by Dustin Bell only 4:58 into the game. Bell kicked three field goals, making him 7-for-7 this season.
The Cougars led 19-3 at halftime.
The Ragin' Cajuns trailed 29-3 before they scored their first touchdown, on Jerome Coleman's 5-yard run late in the third quarter.
Cajun quarterback Jon Van Cleave completed 23 of 46 passes for 284 yards with one touchdown, a 78-yarder to Fred Stamps with less than five minutes to go, and one interception.
