Lady Cougars Finish Third At Tellez Invitational

Houston, Texas - The University of Houston women's track and field team finished in third place at the Tom Tellez Invitational Meet on the UH campus as the Lady Cougars won two events and finished second four others.
Sophomore Jasmin Jackson won the women's long jump with a wind-aided leap of 20 feet, 5 ? inches. Senior All-American Rhian Clarke also won the women's pole vault with a vault of 12 feet, 5 ? inches.
Houston's Aisha Morgan finished second in the 100 meters with a time of 11.51 seconds and was third in the 200 meters in 24.22 seconds. Morgan also ran on Houston's 4x100-meter relay that finished second with a time of 45.08 seconds.
The Lady Cougars also had a pair of second-place finishes in the 1500-meter run and the 500-meter run. Julie Perez was second in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:45.39. Heather Howse was the runner-up in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:12.55.
Freshman Milton Manson won the men's 100-meter hurdles to lead the Cougars. Manson won the event in 13.93 seconds. Fred Day was second in the 100-meter dash with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 10.34 seconds.
Tom Harper was third in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.74 and Sean Clayton was third in the triple jump with a wind-aided leap of 48 feet, 1 ? inches.
Houston will travel to Austin next week and compete in the Texas Relays on April 3-6.
