Foster Provisionally Qualifies For NCAA Championships

Colorado Springs, Colo. - University of Houston junior sprinter Robert Foster provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 200 meters at the Air Force Open Meet on Saturday, February 16.
Foster finished in second place in the 200 meters with a time of 21.19 seconds. He also finished in second place in the 60 meters with a time of 6.78 seconds.
Fred Day also finished in fourth place in the 60 meters with a time of 6.82 seconds and Jason Hodge was seventh in the race with a time of 6.87 seconds. Hodge qualified for the final with a his season-best time of 6.84 seconds.
Stanford Routt finished fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 21.64 seconds and finished just ahead of teammates, Dameon Williams and Day. Williams was fifth in 21.76 seconds, while Day was sixth in 21.86 seconds.
In the field events, Jason Edwards won the triple jump and finished second in the long jump for the Cougars. Edwards had a leap of 48 feet, 1 ? inches in the triple jump, while he posted a mark of 24 feet, 9 inches in the long jump. Brandon Womack was also fourth in the long jump after jumping 23 feet, 7 ? inches.
Justin Crisp finished 10th in the shot put with a heave of 42 feet , 5 ? inches.
In the women's division, Courtnie Ratliff had her best times in the 200 and 400 meters as she finished second in both events. Ratliff had a time of 24.83 seconds in the 200 meters and 56.13 seconds in the 400 meters.
Alicia Cave finished third behind Ratliff in the 200 meters with a time of 25.02 seconds. Cave was also third in the 60-meter hurdles when she completed the race in 8.70 seconds. Magenta Taylor was fifth in the hurdles with a time of 8.99 seconds. This was just her second race of the season.
Tinisha Wesley finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 43 feet, 1 ? inches. Allie Booker was eighth in the women's weight throw with a mark of 47 feet, 5 inches, while Shayla Bowman was 11th with a throw of 43 feet, 10 ? inches.
