Olague Finishes Second At Conference USA Championships

Hattiesburg, Miss. - University of Houston senior cross-country runner Mike Olague finished in second place at the Conference USA championships in Hattiesburg, Miss., when he completed the 8,000-meter course in 24: 43.87 seconds.
South Florida's Andrew Smith was the individual champion and finished with a time of 24:36.71.
Houston finished fifth overall in the team standings with 133 points. Charlotte was the men's team champion with 53 points, and Marquette was second with 71 points.
In the women's division, Houston finished in fourth place as a team with 136 points, Marquette was the women's team champion with 29 points and South Florida was second.
The top runner for the Lady Cougars was sophomore Kelly McCarty, who had a 17th-place finish as she completed the 6,000-meter course in 22:26.52.
Houston's next race will be in Waco, Texas, where both teams will compete in the NCAA South Central Regional Championships on November 16.
