HOUSTON (AP) - Marquel Blackwell ran for three touchdowns and passed for 305 yards and a pair of scores to lead South Florida to a 32-14 victory over Houston on Saturday.
Blackwell went 23-of-36 for 305 yards as independent South Florida (9-2) improved to 4-0 against Conference USA teams. Blackwell became the USF career leader in rushing touchdowns with 20.
He also has thrown 235 passes without an interception, the second-longest streak in NCAA Division I-A history behind Fresno State's Trent Dilfer, who had 271 in 1993.
Nick Eddy threw a conference-record seven interceptions for Houston (4-7), which plays Louisville next week and is assured its third straight losing season. He also tied the school record set by Bo Burris against Mississippi in 1966.
Eddy was 25-of-49 for a career-high 358 yards and two touchdowns.
Blackwell scored on runs of 9 and 1 yards in the first quarter. In the third quarter, Blackwell guided the Bulls 80 yards in nine plays by hitting six straight passes, including a 39-yarder to Hugh Smith for a touchdown. The extra point kick was wide left to leave the score 20-0.
Blackwell went over the 9,000-yard mark in career passing on the next drive and threw a 27-yard TD pass to Huey Whitaker. The 2-point conversion pass was no good, making it 26-0.
After an interception set the Bulls up at the Houston 30, Blackwell scored his 20th career touchdown from 10 yards out for a 32-0 lead.
