Lady Cougars Finish Seventh At Cowboy Jamboree

Stillwater, Okla. - The University of Houston women's cross country team finished in seventh place with 204 points at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla. on Saturday, October 5.
Sophomore Kelly McCarty finished in sixth place as an individual runner to lead the Lady Cougars as she completed the five-kilometer course in 18:12. Jessica Oakes finished in 45th place among 208 total competitors with a time of 19:14. Julie Perez was 47th with a time of 19:21, Terie Littlepage was 49th with a time of 19:26 and Autumn Tawater was 57th with a time of 19:38.
Georgetown won the women's division with 50 points. Southwest Missouri finished second with 57 points and Kansas was third with 106 points. The Air Force Academy was fourth with 109 points, Texas Tech was fifth with 157 points and Tulsa was sixth with 161 points.
In the men's division, Houston finished in 12th place with a total team score of 336 points. Arkansas won the team title with 31 points, and Abilene Christian was second with 38 points. The host school, Oklahoma State was third with 87 points.
Senior Mike Olague led the Cougars with a 22nd place finish as he finished the eight-kilometer course in 25:09. Freshman Sesar Figueroa was Houston's second-best runner as he posted a time of 26:21 to finish in 69th place. Jason Banes finished two spots behind Figueroa with a time of 26:25. Houston's other top five runners were Cole Dailey, who had a time of 26:38 and Toartou Kargou, who had a time of 26:51.
Houston travels to College Station on October 12 to compete in the Texas A&M Invitational before being the host of the Houston Invitational on October 23 at Willis, Texas.
