Callahan Leads Cougars To Fourth Place Finish

Houston, Texas - Senior decathlete Adam Callahan led the University of Houston men's track and field team to a fourth place finish with 55 points at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Indoor Meet Friday night at the Bill Yeoman Field House.
Callahan won the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 9 inches while freshman Daniel Patton was second in the men's pole vault with a mark of 15 feet, 7 inches.
Alex Cantu also finished fourth in the pole vault when he cleared the bar at 15 feet, 1 inch to edge freshman teammate Kevin Watson, who was fifth at the same height.
Two other freshmen recorded fifth place finishes for the Cougars. Andrew Carruthers was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.18 seconds and Justin Crisp also had a mark of 44 feet, 9 3/4 inches in the shot put.
Junior NCAA qualifier Robert Foster opened the 2002 season with a fourth-place finish in the 60 meters in 6.88 seconds.
