A first for Division I-A athletics, this technology is powered by Houston-based Extremetix, Inc. and will be available for all University of Houston basketball games beginning with the game against Georgetown on December 31, 2000. By accessing www.UHcougars.com, UH fans can purchase and print a secure ticket immediately from their home, office or anywhere they have access to the net and a printer. The technology makes ticket buying convenient and fast. UH athletics director Chet Gladchuk is pleased that UH is once again leading the way among Division I-A schools as the first to offer this cutting edge technology.
"We are thrilled to be the first to offer our fans the latest in online ticketing," Gladchuk said. "Our fans will save time, money and have a more convenient ticket purchasing experience. We see this as just the beginning."
"For Cougar fans, there is no need to drive, park or stand in line. There are no overnight or delivery charges. Fans can transfer tickets electronically to friends and customers. Plus, the technology is the most secure of its type in the world," Ed Brooks, President of Extremetix, Inc said. "We are excited about our partnership with the University of Houston."
The University of Houston and Extremetix, Inc. will jointly take part in a formal announcement in early 2001.
