HOUSTON (AP) - J.P. Losman threw two touchdown passes and Tulane forced seven turnovers as the Green Wave beat Houston 34-13 Saturday night.
Losman completed 14 of 25 passes for 208 yards and Mewelde Moore added 90 yards on 19 carries for Tulane (2-0, 1-0 Conference USA).
Joffrey Reynolds led Houston (1-1, 0-1) with 143 yards on 29 carries, but he also lost a key fumble at the Tulane 5.
Tulane led 7-3 at halftime, but Houston's Anthony Evans scored on a 14-yard run on the opening drive of the third quarter for a 10-7 lead.
Tulane responded with an 80-yard drive capped by Losman's 28-yard TD pass to Roydell Williams.
Houston then reached the Green Wave's 5, but Joey Dawson caused Reynolds to fumble and Floyd Dorsey returned it 95 yards for a 21-10 Tulane lead.
Tulane added a 24-yard field goal by Seth Marler to lead 24-10 with 13:05 left.
A fumble recovery by Michael Roberts at the Houston 15 set up a 44-yard field goal with 10:18 left to give the Green Wave a 27-10 advantage.
After Houston's Dustin Bell kicked a 27-yard field goal, Lynaris Elpheage returned an onside kick 42 yards for Tulane's final score.
Tulane scored first on a 37-yard pass from Losman to Chris Bush with 5:04 left in the first quarter. The drive covered 97 yards in 8 plays.
Houston cut the deficit to 7-3 on the last play of the first half on a 31-yard field goal by Bell.
