Houston Ready to Go at Jim West Challenge

Cougars begin with 36 holes Sunday, final 18 holes Monday at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The University of Houston Women's Golf continues its fall schedule when it competes at the Jim West Challenge beginning Sunday at Kissing Tree Golf Club
The Cougars will play 36 holes on the 6,033-yard, par-72 course, beginning with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start Sunday, with the Final Round teeing off with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start Monday.

THE FIELD
The Cougars will compete against Florida State, Kansas State, Memphis, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, UTSA, UNLV and host Texas State.
THE LINEUP
Houston will be represented by sophomores Hannah Screen, Maria Jose Martinez and Annie Kim, freshman Karen Fredgaard and junior Ariana Saenz.
This season, Screen leads the Cougars with a 70.67 average and four rounds of par or better, including a 69 in the Second Round of the Schooner Fall Classic in the team's most recent action.
Fredgaard ranks second with a 71.33 average and two rounds of par or better, while Martinez is a close third at 71.50 with two sub-par rounds.
FIRST-DAY PAIRINGS
For Sunday's first day, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Texas State and Oklahoma.
Screen will start the day off No. 1 with Martinez (first group off No. 2), Fredgaard (second group off No. 2), Kim (No. 3) and Saenz (second group off No. 4) following.

LAST TIME OUT
In their last tournament, the Cougars finished eighth with a score of 856 at the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club on Sept. 27-29.
Screen led the Cougars at even-par 210 to tie for 10th and record her second straight Top-10 finish to open the fall. Fredgaard lowered her score with each round, including a 68 in the Final Round and tied for 23rd.
